HYGORSCOPIC SQUARE

Hygroscopic Square is a piece based on the behavior of cobalt(II) chloride. This substance changes color depending on the ambient humidity conditions. In the Portuguese Roosters, it is the element that allows weather prediction.

The color of the piece will depend on the characteristics of the environment; atmospheric changes result in chromatic variations, just as happens in the sky when the sun approaches the horizon.

In the museum, however, due to the stability conditions that must be maintained, the color will not change; the piece will remain stable and inert.
